The plant prefers full sun to partial shade and benefits from regular pruning, which encourages fuller, more productive growth.. Stevia features slender, upright green stems that are slightly woody at the base and support a profusion of soft, serrated, oblong leaves. These leaves are the most valued part of the plant, rich in natural compounds called Steviol Glycosides, which give Stevia its intensely sweet taste—up to 300 times sweeter than sugar. The leaves are bright green and slightly fuzzy to the touch, arranged in opposite pairs along the stem.. During its blooming period, Stevia produces small, tubular white flowers that appear at the tips of the stems.
