• By Seeds:
  Seed propagation is ideal for producing new plants in larger quantities, though it may be difficult to harvest seeds. Harvest mature seed pods once they turn brown and begin to split naturally. Clean and dry the seeds before sowing. For best results, soak them in warm water for 12 to 24 hours to soften the seed coat and encourage germination. Plant the seeds in a well-draining soil mix (equal parts loam, sand and compost) at a shallow depth—just enough to cover them. Keep the soil consistently moist and place the container in a warm, partially shaded area. Germination usually occurs within 3 to 5 weeks under Caribbean conditions. Once seedlings develop several true leaves, transplant them into individual pots or directly into the garden during the early wet season.
• By Stem Cuttings:
  Stem cuttings are the most reliable and faster method for maintaining the same characteristics as the parent plant. Take 10 cm to 15 cm (4 to 6 inch) semi-hardwood cuttings from a healthy vine, preferably during active growth in the early rainy season. Remove the lower leaves, leaving only 2 to 3 at the top.
